Alan has spent decades shaping minds, but despite edging into his sixth decade, he’s still as curious about education as ever—especially when it comes to AI. His fascination probably started with a childhood diet of science fiction and Isaac Asimov, which left him wondering not just what if? but what next?. Today, Alan combines that sense of wonder with practical innovation, leading initiatives that bring critical thinking, metacognition, and emerging technologies into classrooms. He approaches AI in education with his own twist on Asimov’s Laws:
- AI must enhance learning, not harm it.
- AI must obey the curriculum, even when tempted to go rogue.
- AI must protect the joy of teaching—unless doing so conflicts with Laws 1 or 2.
Alan firmly believes the future of education should be one where the robots are helpful, the humans are inspired, and nobody needs a positronic brain to keep up.
