Our Commitment to Independence and Responsible AI
Good Future Foundation operates with complete brand and technological neutrality. It is our core policy not to promote or recommend any specific brands, products, or tools in our work with schools. This independence allows us to provide unbiased guidance that truly serves educators' and students' needs rather than commercial interests.
We are not AI evangelists. We believe that while AI offers tremendous potential for education, it must be deployed thoughtfully, effectively, and safely. We acknowledge that there are areas of school life where AI may not be appropriate or beneficial. Our approach emphasises responsible implementation that considers ethical implications, privacy concerns, and the importance of maintaining human connection in education.
Our goal is to help educators make informed decisions about when, where, and how to integrate AI into their teaching practices, and equally importantly, when not to, ensuring that technology serves educational goals rather than the other way around.

Steven Chan: Technology Innovator
Steven's journey with technology began at a young age when he received his first laptop as a birthday gift from his father. This early exposure sparked his passion for programming and building technology solutions. Years later, this led to the creation of Goodnotes, now a widely popular digital note-taking app used by millions worldwide.
In the podcast, Steven reflected on his privileged access to technology:
"I feel very lucky and privileged to be able to get a computer since a young age and then the first iPad on the first day, because I think it's through these opportunities that I discovered my interest, and then that's how we also funded the company. So I feel like I'm very privileged to be exposed to these opportunities.”
This awareness of privilege drives Steven's philanthropic vision for Good Future Foundation. He understood that to truly make AI, an emerging technology, accessible to all students, we must first address a critical gap:
"I'm hoping that all our new generation can be exposed to AI and new technologies, even in the under-resourced schools. That's the very reason why we want to start this foundation, to really give everyone this same level playing field, so that they're very well prepared for the future.”
To achieve this vision of a level playing field for all students, we identified that teachers and school leaders as the essential bridge between technology and student opportunity. Many educators face significant challenges in keeping pace with rapidly evolving AI technologies while managing their already demanding workloads. This is why our Foundation focuses primarily on empowering educators with the confidence, knowledge, and skills they need to integrate AI safely and effectively and to support their students grappling with the impact of this new technology.
